Sayved — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 September 2026
Sayved is a personal log. It is built so that the log stays yours. This policy describes exactly what happens to what you put into it, in plain terms.
The short version: your entries live on your phone. Your voice recordings never leave it. To turn what you said or photographed into structured data, the text of your entry — or a downscaled copy of your photo — is sent to a processing service and immediately discarded. There is no account, and nothing sent carries your identity.
1. Who is responsible
Sayved is published by Kamil Dzikowski.
Contact for any privacy question, data request, or complaint: [email protected]
2. There is no account
Sayved has no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, or any other identifying detail. We do not use an advertising identifier, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
The app does generate one random code on your phone the first time you open it. It is a string of random characters — it is not derived from your phone's hardware, not linked to your Google account, and not shared with anyone. Its only job is to keep the daily fair-use limits fair, so that one copy of the app cannot exhaust the service for everyone else. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling erases it permanently, and a new one is generated if you start again.
We therefore hold no account that could identify you, and no way to link an entry to a person.
3. What is stored on your device
Everything you log is written to a database on your own phone:
- what you said, as text transcribed on your device
- photos you captured or imported, at full resolution
- the structured values derived from them (for example a calorie estimate, a macro split, a dose, hours of sleep)
- any correction you make
Local storage is the source of truth. This data is not uploaded to us, is not backed up to our servers, and is not synchronised anywhere. If you uninstall Sayved, this data is deleted with the app.
4. Your voice
Speech is transcribed on your device, by the speech recognition built into your phone's operating system.
Audio is never uploaded to us and is never stored by Sayved. We do not receive, keep, or process any recording of your voice. Only the resulting text is used.
Note that your device's own speech recognition is provided by your operating system vendor (for example Google on Android) and is governed by their privacy terms. Sayved requests on-device recognition. If you have configured your device to use a cloud-based recogniser, that processing is between you, your device and your OS vendor, and is outside Sayved's control.
5. Your photos
When you photograph or import an image:
- the original stays on your device and is never uploaded
- a downscaled copy (long edge approximately 900 pixels, JPEG) is sent for processing so that food and quantities can be estimated
The downscaled copy is sent, processed, and not retained. Location metadata is not read or transmitted by Sayved.
6. What leaves your device, and why
To turn a capture into structured data, Sayved sends the following to its own processing service, which forwards it to a third-party AI model provider:
| What is sent | When |
|---|---|
| The transcribed or typed text of your entry | Every voice or typed capture |
| A downscaled copy of your photo | Every photo capture |
| Entries relevant to a question you asked | Only when you use the Ask feature |
Also sent: the random fair-use code described in section 2, so daily limits can be counted. It identifies a copy of the app, not a person.
What is not sent: your name, email, your phone's hardware or advertising ID, your location, your contacts, your full history, or any audio.
Nothing is stored by our processing service. It holds no database. It receives a request, calls the model, returns the result, and retains nothing. Server logs record the fact and timing of a request and any error, and do not contain the content of your entries.
Ask
When you use Ask, retrieval happens on your device: your phone selects only the entries relevant to your question and sends just those, plus your question. Your full log is never transmitted.
Third-party processor
Structured extraction and Ask answers are produced by OpenAI via its API. Under OpenAI's API terms, data submitted through the API is not used to train their models. OpenAI may retain API data for a limited period for abuse monitoring. See openai.com/policies.
We may change model provider. If we do, this policy will be updated before the change ships.
7. What we do not do
- No analytics or telemetry SDK. We do not track screen views, sessions, or usage.
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no ad networks.
- No crash reporting service that transmits your content.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone for their own purposes.
- We do not build a profile of you.
- We do not use your entries to train any AI model.
8. Sensitive information
A life log can contain health information: symptoms, medication, doses, mood, weight, and intimate activity. Sayved treats every category identically and neutrally.
Entries in the categories health, medication, mood/energy and intimacy are marked internally as sensitive so they can be excluded from any shared or exported summary by default.
Sayved is not a medical device. Estimates it produces — calories, macros, energy burned — are consistent guesses, not measurements, and are labelled as estimates throughout the app. Nothing in Sayved is medical advice. Consult a qualified professional for any health decision.
9. Permissions the app asks for
| Permission | Why | Optional? |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | To transcribe what you say, on your device | Yes — you can type instead |
| Camera | To photograph a meal | Yes — you can use gallery, files, voice, or text |
| Photos / files | To import an image you already have | Yes |
| Internet | To send a capture for structuring, and to answer Ask | Required for structuring; captures still save without it |
Denying microphone or camera does not prevent you from using Sayved. Captures are saved to your device before any network call, so a capture is never lost to a failed or absent connection — only the structured fields are missing, and can be filled in later.
10. Children
Sayved is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Since we operate no account system, we hold no data that could identify a child user.
11. Your rights and control
Because your log is stored on your device and we hold no account:
- Access: all your data is visible in the app, in the History tab.
- Correction: every derived value is editable. Your correction is stored alongside the model's original rather than replacing it, so it can be undone.
- Deletion: deleting an entry removes it from your device permanently — there is no archive and no tombstone. Uninstalling the app deletes everything.
- Portability: an export feature is planned. Until it ships, your data remains readable in the app.
We cannot delete data on your behalf, because we do not hold it. If you believe we hold anything relating to you, write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
For users in the EEA and UK: our lawful basis for processing the content you submit for structuring is performance of a contract — you asked the app to structure your entry, and it cannot do that without sending it. Processing is limited to that purpose.
12. Data retention
| Data | Retained |
|---|---|
| Your entries and photos | On your device, until you delete them |
| Audio | Never retained anywhere |
| Content sent for structuring | Not retained by us |
| Server request logs (timing, errors, no content) | Up to 30 days |
13. Security
Traffic between the app and our processing service is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). The AI provider's API key is held server-side and is never shipped inside the app. Your on-device database is protected by your phone's own application sandbox and device encryption.
No system is perfectly secure. Because we hold no account and no copy of your log, a breach of our infrastructure would not expose your entries.
14. International transfers
Our processing service and the AI provider's API may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Content sent for structuring may therefore be processed there. It carries no identifier and is not retained.
15. Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published here with a new date before the change takes effect in the app.
Summary: no account, no tracking, no ads, no training on your data, audio never leaves your phone, photos downscaled before they do, and nothing stored on our side.
